Why Designer Sunglasses Are Better

The classic definition of sunglasses is that they are a form of protective eyewear designed chiefly to prevent bright light or high-energy visible light from damaging or causing discomfort to the eyes. The first ever pair of sunglasses was created to do just that. But since they enhanced the wearer’s look to a great extent, sunglasses became a fashion accessory.

When Bausch and Lomb launched their aviator off white sunglasses and named them RayBan aviators, it was done with the sole intention of providing protecting the eyes of the US armed forces. The first ever pair had green lenses, a light frame made of gold plated metal. The elegant style won several admirers. Since then a number of brands in the fashion industry have adopted this style and created more of their own.

Similarly there are several other functions of sunglasses. They offer protection from glare, reducing the intensity of the sun, as disguises, et al. However these features are available only if the quality of the lenses is very high. To support the lenses you need sturdy frames to support them. Of course style is necessary and designer sunglasses meet all the above requirements. But it comes at a price. Designer sunglasses are far too expensive for the common man. Only the rich and the famous have the ability to afford quality sunglasses or in other words have the access to buy eyewear which will truly protect their eyes.

The middle class society reaches out to imitation sunglasses in order to shield their eyes from the sun. Most of them are ignorant of the fact that such sunglasses are not equipped to keep your eyes safe. To them it is just looking like their favorite celebrity and because replica sunglasses are affordable, they can own more than one pair. This gives them a sense of confidence that they are on par with the celebs.

However when it comes to health, quality cannot be compromised over quantity. If you look closely, imitation sunglasses are quite flawed. The metal frames are basically of cheap quality. The flashy look could be just some glossy paint which could get chipped easily. The lenses may not have the special coating on them. A high end pair of sunglasses ideally offers 100% protection and absorption of 400nm. To make things easier for lesser mortals like us, brands like Prada, Gucci and a few others have slashed their prices. No, their quality has not been affected in any way.

Designer sunglasses sure have the name on them, but they use materials like gold, platinum or titanium for their frames. These metals last long and keep the frame sturdy. Even the frames’ structure is well wrought and no flaw can be found in them. The nuts and screws are made of the best materials. The lenses are coated with special chemicals which do not wear off with time. The shape of top quality sunglasses fit comfortably on your face. In addition to all this, the superior style of the sunglasses is the definition of luxury.
